Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi prevent the negative effect of drought and modulate the growth‐defence trade‐off in tomato plants

چکیده

Introduction A wide range of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) can be applied to agricultural soils as biofertilizers for increasing crop growth and yield. Current research also shows that AMF stimulate plant defences against a herbivores pathogens. However, date, the efficient use in agriculture is largely impaired by our inability predict performance different AMF-plant complexes variable environments. For instance, AMFs foraging capacity might alleviate allocation constraints relation versus defences. whether this effect occurs depend on situ conditions. The main goal study was investigate context-dependency ability modulate resistance under soil water availability. Materials Methods To address goal, we performed greenhouse experiment measuring inocula (Funneliformis mosseae, Rhizophagus irregularis, or both) tomato plants (Solanum lycopersicum) an insect herbivore two conditions: normal watering regime drought We measured functional, physiological chemical traits plants. Results found presence generally decreased growth, but increased generalist caterpillars. Such growth-defence trade-off nonetheless dependent identity inoculum content. Under drought, inoculated lowered their investment defence noninoculated growth. Conclusion This highlights influence abiotic factors fungal plant–AMF–herbivore interactions. In broader sense, results point necessity finding species have reduced climatic factors, more widespread organic agriculture.

ARBUSCULAR MYCORRHIZAL FUNGI OF WHEAT FIELDS IN THE GOLESTAN PROVINCE

For identification of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), in the late springs of 2004 and 2005, wheat fields in the GolestanProvince (northeast of  Iran near the Caspian sea) surveyed and root cores sampled. After extraction of AMF spores and staining roots, 19 AMF identified as follow: Entrophospora infrequens, Glomus caledonium, G. clarum, G. constrictum, G. deserticola, G. eburneum, G. etuni...

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi alleviate oxidative stress induced by ADOR and enhance antioxidant responses of tomato plants.

The behaviour of tomato plants inoculated with arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi grown in the presence of aqueous extracts from dry olive residue (ADOR) was studied in order to understand how this symbiotic relationship helps plants to cope with oxidative stress caused by ADOR. The influence of AM symbiosis on plant growth and other physiological parameters was also studied. Tomato plants were ...

the effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

Plants and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi: an evolutionary-developmental perspective.

Arbuscular mycorrhizas (AMs) are widespread symbiotic associations that are commonly described as the result of co-evolution events between fungi and plants where both partners benefit from the reciprocal nutrient exchange. Here, we review data from fossil records, characterizations of AM fungi in basal plants and live cell imaging of angiosperm colonization processes from an evolutionary-devel...
